We gain a sense of purpose and meaning. We realise that everything we do, think, say or plan is all part of a story that is far greater than ourselves. A life in Jesus provides direction and hope for the future and peace for the present. We are empowered by our choice to follow Jesus, to be better people; more loving and forgiving, compassionate and understanding of others, as well as ourselves. We are unafraid of the future and what it holds because we know the God of the universe has us held safely in His hands. We become conscious, in a deep and authentic way, just how much God loves us and that He has purpose with our lives.
Coming to know God, and His son, Jesus, and choosing to become part of His family changes us. We’re compelled to be different people, not because we have to, but because we want to. Jesus affects our lives, and the lives of those we come into contact with, in positive and life-affirming ways.
One of the most transformational changes is what Life With Jesus does for us in a very real and personal way.
Life With Jesus Has Purpose
“Be energetic in your life of salvation, reverent and sensitive before God. That energy is God’s energy, an energy deep within you. God himself willing and working at what will give him the most pleasure.” Phil 2: 12-13, The Message
Life With Jesus Is Positive
Our ordinary human lives can often be difficult, and we can face many stressful or confronting situations. Grief, relationship problems, unemployment or difficult living conditions are only some of the tough issues that humans face every day. It’s times like this that we can feel very low and alone and struggle to find a way through. And yet, a life with Jesus means we’re never truly alone. Jesus, our friend, is always with us, and God, our loving Father is always working in our lives, especially in trying times, to bring about His plan and purpose for us. This is very real and can be a very positive compass for our lives.
“Meanwhile, the moment we get tired in the waiting, God’s spirit is right alongside helping us along. If we don’t know how or what to pray, it doesn’t matter. He does our praying in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs, our aching groans. He knows us far better than we know ourselves, knows our condition, and keeps us present before God. That’s why we can be so sure that every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good.” Rom 8:26-28, The Message
Life With Jesus Is Proactive
In Jesus, we have been forgiven our sins, freely and without reservation. With this freedom comes the power to choose how we respond to life’s challenges and blessings – how to act with purpose in the life we’ve chosen. We are deeply motivated by God’s love and generosity to us and our lives reflect this with a ‘pay-it-forward’ attitude to others. Alongside a sense of purpose, every day is a new opportunity to be proactive in our faith, showing it to be truly a way of life by the way we treat others. We feel encouraged to actively make positive and life-affirming choices, for ourselves, in both our actions and our responses.
“Every part of scripture is God-breathed and useful one way or another – showing us truth, exposing our rebellion, correcting our mistakes, training us to live God’s way. Through the Word, we are put together and shaped up for the tasks God has for us.” 2 Tim 3:15, The Message
Life With Jesus Is Powerful
Choosing Jesus is truly transformational. It is powerful and all embracing, life-changing and motivational. We become a part of something greater than ourselves – sharing in God’s plan and becoming part of His family. We have lives that truly matter, with focus and direction, momentum and excitement. We are redefined and “reborn” by what God has done for us, not by anything we have done. This is both humbling and empowering in a very real and personal way.
“And sing, sing your hearts out to God! Let every detail in your lives – words, actions, whatever – be done in the name of the Master, Jesus, thanking God the Father every step of the way.” Col 3:17, The Message
